Andrew Snekvik

Associate Pastor - Overseeing Small Groups, Education, Welcome Ministries & Campus Ministries. Boston Site Pastor.

Email | andrew@bostonvineyard.org

Andrew Snekvik joined the staff of the Greater Boston Vineyard as an associate pastor in the spring of 2000. He had been helping coach the small group leaders and decided more time would help. Andrew married Val (also on staff) in 1997. Before any of this, though, Andrew grew up in California, Belgium, Florida, and Maine. He received a B.A. in History in 1995 and an M.A. in Russian and East European Studies in 1997, both from Stanford University. While at Stanford, he helped lead his InterVarsity Christian Fellowship group. He began leading small groups as a sophomore and has only continued on that track, now overseeing Vineyard’s adult small group community. He teaches “Vineyard 201: Essentials of Following Jesus” and “Vineyard 301: Small Group Leader’s Training.” After leading the effort to transition our Welcome Ministries at the Cambridge site from its home in an rented elementary school to a renovated cathedral, Andrew realized he likes taking on new challenges that require “out of the box” thinking and so in early 2006 he took on the role of site pastor with the job of starting a second site in Boston. Andrew and Val have three sons, Sam (born in 2002) and Stephen (2004), and Mark (2006). Good thing Andrew likes to wrestle! When Andrew takes a moment to slow down he realizes how good God has been.

Chi-Ray Chien

Director of Technology & Facilities

Email | chi-ray@bostonvineyard.org

Chi-Ray Chien is the Director of Technology & Facilities at the Greater Boston Vineyard. While he grew up in Los Angeles and Palos Verdes, CA, he's one of a few folks in the church who can genuinely say he's a native Bostonian, though he was too young to pick up the "Bah-stun" accent before he moved. He was active in leadership in his church youth groups and continued in various capacities with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Stanford University. While at Stanford, Chi-Ray received a BS in 1994 and MS 1996, both in Biomechanical Engineering.

In 1998, he and his wife Erica moved to the Cambridge area and joined the Greater Boston Vineyard. Together, they led a Small Group at their home in Somerville. Their hope is that their home in Somerville, which they named "The Lighthouse", would be exactly that in their community. Already, it's become a place of rest and comfort — a way-point for many friends, including weary international travelers.

After working in industry for 5 years as an engineer, Chi-Ray joined the staff at the Greater Boston Vineyard in 2001. Erica, an attorney, co-leads a mediation ministry at the Vineyard helping folks explore Christian conciliation as a way to help folks mend broken relationships and championing peacemaking.

Chi-Ray's favorite magazines are PC World, Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, and recently, Parents with the birth of their children Timothy (2004) & Megan (2006). You can find him trolling sites like BensBargains.com and Googling everything. He's occasionally been mistaken for a Consumer Reports magazine.

Christopher Greco

Associate Pastor - Overseeing Worship, Arts, Pastoral Care & Healing Ministries

Email | christopher@bostonvineyard.org

Christopher Greco and his wife, Dorothy, have lived in the Boston area for more than 25 years, having met as students at Boston University shortly after each became a follower of Jesus. For the past dozen years, they have been leading prayer-based discipleship programs for men and women seeking healing in areas of relational and sexual brokenness. They especially enjoy the challenges and pleasures of serving as a couple, and with a team, as in-process healers.

Christopher came to the Vineyard in 1998 after directing theatre and music in college, high and middle school settings. Christopher is collaborating with Canadian worship leader, Brian Doerksen, on a new musical based on the parable of the lost son. Prodigal G-d is slated for a 2008 recording and a 2009 theatre debut. Other original theatre works include The Last Set From Hell, The Almighty Lottery, Save Yourself, An Appearance of the Blessed Virgin at a Brookline Health Clinic, This Waking Moment, and Alabaster.

His live worship CD, We Will Not Give Up, released in 2003, is available through our bookstore. Five of his original worship songs are featured on the Greater Boston Vineyard's newly released CD, First Songs (1998-2007), which is also available here and through iTunes and CD Baby.

Dorothy is a freelance photojournalist, and home-school educator of their sons, GianCarlo (born 1996), and Matthew (1999). Anthony (1993) entered public school this year in their hometown of Littleton. The boys are Red Sox fans to the core, and Mama and Papa are known to get all worked up too, especially in the post-season.

Chuck Snekvik

Associate Pastor

Email | chuck@bostonvineyard.org

Chuck Snekvik is an associate pastor of the Greater Boston Vineyard. He joined the staff in November 2001. His wife, Marianne, has also been serving on staff since July 2002. They are the proud parents of two (including Andrew who is also a staff member) and grandparents of four.

Chuck met Marianne while they were both on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, International. After leaving Campus Crusade, Chuck pursued teaching science for twenty-eight years while spending most of his spare time in leadership in a community-centered Christian group. He recently received his Masters of Ministry from the Wagner Leadership Institute and has been trained in counseling by Larry Crabb, Elijah House, and in various other types of prayer counseling.

Chuck’s responsibilities include the Welcome Teams, Encounter Night, Listening Prayer, Men’s Small Groups and counseling. His passion for authentic community and total freedom for the Christian individual was taken to a new level when he and Marianne were refreshed by the recent renewal of God. Seeing revival in the greater Boston area and the world through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is his greatest passion.

Danny Tao

Director of Community Development

Email | danny@bostonvineyard.org

Danny joined the staff as the Director of Community Development in the spring of 2004. While in college, Danny developed a passion for social justice and racial reconciliation as he became more aware of the widening socioeconomic and racial divides in our world. What really sealed the deal, though, was when he had a life changing experience with Jesus. As Danny began serving the poor in his community, he discovered Jesus amidst the poor and that he was to receive as much as he was to give.

Danny graduated from UCLA with a degree in Urban Studies (which did not impress his Asian parents) and went on to get a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Urban Planning from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government (which helped to make up for the first degree). Prior to joining the Greater Boston Vineyard, Danny developed affordable housing throughout the greater Boston area. Danny’s ultimate dream is to see individual lives and communities transformed through a multiracial church that lives out God’s values of compassion, justice and reconciliation.

Danny loves dancing, especially the Lindy Hop, listening to swing music, cooking and trying new foods, watching movies of all genres and sharing life with many friends and family. He lives in Cambridge with his lovely wife, Deidre, and their son, Evan.

In June of 2002, Marianne retired from Portland High School after a twenty-year career in teaching. Marianne was born in Sacramento, CA, graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and then joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ International where she met her husband. They have lived together in Oregon, California, Belgium, Florida, Maine, and now Boston. Here at the Vineyard, Marianne oversees the Prayer Ministry Team. Val Snekvik

Associate Pastor - preaching department

Email | val@bostonvineyard.org

Val Snekvik is an associate pastor of the Greater Boston Vineyard. She is married to Andrew Snekvik and they are the parents of Sam (born in 2002), Stephen (2004), and Mark (November 2006). At the age of ten, Val decided to follow Jesus through her childhood church in Los Angeles, California. She has spent her life involved in youth and children's ministries, music and arts ministries, and forging community experiences among friends trying to know God.

Val has recently joined our preaching department from her longtime role in families ministries, and is pleasantly surprised to find time to read books while at work. She has enjoyed communicating in various settings for a long time, starting from growing up at the dinner table as the youngest of a family of four girls. Val is also a coach of diverse small group and ministry leaders.

Val received her B.A. in history and M.A. in education from Stanford University in California, and has worked in teaching, curriculum development, community relations, and you-name-it other jobs. She loves the challenges and profound fun that being a wife and a mom brings. Whenever she can, Val enjoys classical, black gospel, and classic rock music, painting murals, and cooking.

Victor Turner

Associate Pastor - overseeing Families Ministries, including baby church, kids' church, youth, marriage, and families

Email | victor@bostonvineyard.org

Victor Turner is an associate pastor at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship – Greater Boston. Victor and his wife Joyce and son Jason (the youngest of seven) moved to Boston from Chicago IL. in October 2000 as a climax to a three year discussion on what it would be like to live in a town not only known as “Beantown,” but also known as, “The Hub of the Universe.”

Victor dedicated his life to Jesus Christ while attending Summer Kids' Camp in Maywood IL. Much later Victor met and married his lovely wife Joyce as they started on a journey of sharing mutual past times such as watching and playing basketball, cooking barbeque ribs, listening to Gospel and Hip Hop music, and developing card games for kids.

Victor is currently living a life long dream by working at the Vineyard Church as Families Pastor which allows him to oversee Summer Kids' Camp – should sound familiar – Kids' and Baby Church, Youth Ministry and Marriage Ministry. One of Victor’s favorite activities is meeting people from all over the world who come to visit the Church and hearing about the journey that brought them to the Boston area.

Victor is currently attending Harvard University where he is exploring business management and creative writing. Victor has previously worked as an electrical contractor, computer technician, financial project manager and Pastor. Victor’s hobbies are playing card games with his wife and son, writing screen plays, looking for a “real” pizza place, and exploring the New England Country Side.
