Teens Create Fundraiser to Benefit Children's Hospital Boston
Cambridge, MA - August 2005 - On Friday August 12th The Possibilities
Factory (PFactory), a local non-profit organization that works to
increase youth self-esteem and community altruism held a fundraising
carwash to benefit Children's Hospital Boston. PFactory partnered with
the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Cambridge for the event.
"It is encouraging to see our youth taking social responsibility and
helping kids less fortunate than them, said City of Cambridge Mayor
Michael A. Sullivan, who came with his five year-old son and had his
car washed, " It is an experience that helps kids to grow.
As part of their camp assignment, six local teens who took part in the
PFactory summer camp created a community service project to benefit
kids less fortunate than themselves. The teens' goal was to raise $300
but exceeded their target raising a total of just over $700.
"It adds to these kids' self worth when they know that they are
truly contributing to the well being of another person - it really is a
fulfilling experience, said Pascha Griffiths, PFactory Director.
The teens conducted the carwash at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of
Cambridge. The church was the event sponsor, providing the venue and
supplies for the car wash.
All proceeds will benefit Children's Hospital Boston. The funds will be
used to help pay the medical expenses of patients whose families cannot
afford care, purchase essential medical equipment, support pediatric
research, and provide training for the next generation of
pediatricians.
