The Connection

The Connection is a ministry that empowers and equips members of the church to care for those who are hurting or needing help through one-on-one support, prayer and encouragement.  If you’re going through a tough time emotionally or spiritually, struggling with a crisis in life or simply feeling lonely, sad or discouraged, then the Connection may be able to help.

The Connection is based on an international ministry called the Stephen Ministries.

Connection caregivers and the individuals they support are matched in one-to-one, same-gender, confidential pairs. The caregivers commit to providing regular and dependable support, usually meeting at least one hour per week with the individual in need.  The type and length of support depends on the needs of each relationship.  All care giving is free of charge and done in conjunction with our small groups, other pastoral care resources and services in the community.

Interested in serving with the Connection?

To become a Connection caregiver, individuals must complete an eight-week training  and commit to a year of service with bi-weekly peer supervision and continuing education. The training prepares caregivers to assist individuals in a variety of situations and to recognize situations requiring professional care.  If you are interested in becoming a Caregiver, please click here to download the application, which explains all the requirements in more detail.
