ARE THESE PROGRAMS FOR ME?
The teachings, healing prayer, and small group interaction would benefit everyone, but may be particularly relevant to those struggling with an inability to develop satisfying friendships, co-dependency, sexual and substance addictions, the effects of sexual and physical abuse, marital difficulties, gender confusion, and homosexuality.
If the following statements describe your heart and hope for healing, you will find these programs to be life-giving:
- A desire to deepen your relationship with Christ
- A willingness to take responsibility for the unhappiness of your present state and face the painful realities that led you there. This involves exploring hurts from your past specifically related to key people in your life.
- A willingness to be open and honest about your brokenness, including sexual feelings and practices, with other people who may have similar or very different types of brokenness.
- Openness to the healing ministry of the Holy Spirit in these deep areas.
- A willingness to pursue meaningful relationships with men and women in the Body of Christ and risk being hurt again.
WHAT'S INVOLVED?
The Worship of Jesus: We focus our attention and praise on God rather than on our problems. The Words of Jesus: Teachings combine biblical truths, psychological insights, and personal testimonies that help us to connect with God and know ourselves better. The Works of Jesus: We bring our sins, and those committed against us, to the Lord who is faithful to set us free. Through healing prayer in large and small group settings, we invite the Holy Spirit to heal our various wounds and reconcile our conflicting desires. Topics include:
- Receiving the Father's love
- The cross and confession
- Roots of gender confusion
- Expressions of the false self
- Healing of abuse
- Reconciliation between men and women
- Overcoming addiction
- Embracing the church as our healing community
- A confidentiality policy is in place to help ensure trust and safety in the groups.
PROGRAM HISTORY
These programs were developed by Andrew Comiskey, founder of Desert Stream, a ministry in its 20th year of bringing healing to the sexually and relationally broken. Offered throughout the world, these programs have proven to be safe places to be gut honest about problems which can be difficult to talk about in church. Hundreds of men and women have experienced life transformation and freedom they never thought possible.
STAFF
Coordinating these programs are Christopherand Dorothy Greco, northeast regional overseers of CrossCurrent and Living Waters, who have walked with men and women seeking healing for several years. Joining them is a lay leadership team of wounded healers, men and women like yourself who have experienced Jesus' promise of living water through involvement with these programs.
