Project MOVE
Project MOVE is a yearlong enrichment program where students develop a personal mission statement, discover great works of art and literature, explore college and career paths, and produce community service documentaries.
Students can earn up to $700 of scholarship money and $300 in gift cards over the year, and receive job placements through the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program in their final term.
Program Description
Activities are designed to prepare young people to think critically and act responsibly to improve their lives and communities. During the first semester, participants will develop a personal mission statement. The remaining time in the program provides the experiences, knowledge, and skills needed to revise and carry out the mission statement.
Participants who complete each semester will be rewarded with deposits to their college funds and gift certificates for their personal use—totaling over $1,000. Participants who complete the two-year sequence may also be matched with mentors and invited to participate in REACH, a college-prep program for 11th & 12th graders.
