Community Youth Programs

The Greater Boston Vineyard seeks to "empower impossibly great lives" for the youth in our community.  Our programs aim to create an environment that will help youth to thrive and to give youth the tools and support they need to articulate and pursue their dreams.

Core values that we try to instill in our youth include: initiative, confidence, vision, leadership, inquisitiveness, responsibility, respect, excellence, and community.  See below for a list of our current programs and descriptions.

Current Programs

Project Move is an enrichment program for 8th-10th graders that prepares young people to think critically and act responsibly to improve their lives and their communities.  This two-year program is designed to prepare participants for college and beyond.

Passport is an enrichment and college-advising program for high school juniors and seniors. This program is a curriculum-based holistic approach to helping students develop the skills, motivation and determination necessary to successfully enter and complete college.  Key elements of Passport include: SAT prep, career planning, leadership development, and life skills, and mentoring. Friday Nights at the V is based on the belief that strong, meaningful relationships are the foundation for empowering youth.  Friday Nights provide a safe, fun space open to all middle and high school students in the Cambridge community.

Storyboard gives teens a chance to learn how to tell their own story through art, film, dance and other expressions.  Each workshop series runs 2-3 months and is led by guest artists, culminating in a final presentation for the community.

Family Game Night is a low-key space where parents, kids (mostly ages 5-12) and other North Cambridge residents come to spend time together through good old fashion board games.  Based on the belief building strong, healthy communities requires that people first know, trust and enjoy one another, Family Game Night works to provide a space where that can happen.

Kids' Movie Night provides kids, ages 10 & under and their parents with something fun and special to do together on a Friday Night. Complete with popcorn, big comfy pillows and a family-friendly movie projected on the big screen, Kid's Movie Night is a safe and positive setting for little ones.

Mentoring provides positive one-on-one relationships for youth.  Youth can receive support, encouragement and guidance from a caring adult role model.  Mentors will also help youth establish and achieve life goals.

Tutoring provides students with an opportunity for academic help.  Additionally, improving academic achievement often increases self-esteem in youth.   Education is a key step to pursuing greater dreams.
